About
A workshop, not a factory.
The Mint Workshop is a card restoration and conservation bench in Cranford, New Jersey. We work on cards that mean something to the people who own them.
Why we started
Because "send it in and hope" isn't a process.
Card restoration had a reputation problem, and mostly it earned it. Work done in the dark, no documentation, no honest conversation about what a card could and couldn't become. Collectors mailed away grails and got back a shrug.
We built the opposite. Every card is photographed before it's touched, barcoded through every stage, and measured against its own intake images at final inspection. If a card isn't a good candidate, we say so before you pay for shipping.
How we work
Conservation first. Always.
There's a line between conservation and alteration, and the entire hobby depends on people staying on the right side of it. We use non-destructive methods only — nothing trimmed, nothing recolored, nothing bleached, nothing added to the card.
That's not a marketing position. It's the only version of this business worth running.
- No trimming, recoloring or bleaching
- No added material of any kind
- Documented before-and-after on every card
- Stop-and-call if a card responds badly

The bench
Purpose-built, not improvised.
Flattening runs through a controlled drying system with managed humidity and temperature rather than a press and a stack of books. Intake photography uses fixed-angle raking light so flaws are documented consistently, card to card.
Boring engineering, but it's the reason results repeat.
- Controlled humidity and temperature drying
- Fixed-angle raking light intake photography
- Barcoded slot tracking from intake to return

We work with shops, too.
Hobby shops and dealers run bulk lots through our wholesale program with volume pricing, walk-in and prepaid drop-off modes, and co-branded receipts you can hand your own customers.
Send us something you care about.
We'll tell you honestly what we can do with it — before you ship, not after.
