Your cards deserve more than a sleeve and a prayer. At The Mint Workshop, we provide precision restoration services for Pokémon cards — addressing surface damage, structural imperfections, and presentation issues that stand between your card and its true grading potential.
Whether you're preparing a vintage Base Set Charizard for PSA submission or restoring a modern alt-art pull to display condition, our process is methodical, careful, and collector-focused at every step.
What Is Pokémon Card Repair?
Pokémon card repair is the professional process of correcting physical damage or imperfections on a trading card's surface, structure, or edges. Unlike DIY attempts, professional restoration uses specialized techniques and materials that minimize risk and maximize results — without compromising card integrity.
At The Mint Workshop, every repair begins with a detailed assessment. We evaluate the card under magnification, document existing condition, and determine the appropriate restoration pathway before any work begins.
What Damage Can Be Improved?
- Creases and bends — Light to moderate creases and card bends can often be significantly reduced through controlled pressure and humidity techniques.
- Surface scratches — Holo and non-holo surface scratches can be addressed through careful surface correction methods.
- Whitening and edge wear — Border whitening and edge scuffs are among the most common issues we treat, particularly on vintage cards.
- Print defects and surface debris — Dust, residue, and minor print artifacts can be carefully removed without damaging the card's finish.
- Corner softening — Rounded or dinged corners can be assessed and, where appropriate, treated to improve presentation.
Important: Not all damage is correctable. We provide honest assessments and will never overstate what restoration can achieve. Cards with severe structural damage, deep creases, or ink loss may have limited restoration potential.
Before & After
Results speak louder than descriptions. Our restoration work is documented with high-resolution photography at intake and upon completion — so you can see exactly what changed and make informed decisions about grading submission.

Our Restoration Process
- Intake & Assessment — Your card is received, photographed under controlled lighting, and evaluated under magnification. We document all existing damage before any work begins.
- Restoration Plan — Based on the assessment, we determine the appropriate techniques for your card's specific damage profile.
- Precision Restoration — Work is performed in a controlled environment using professional-grade materials. Each step is documented.
- Quality Review — Post-restoration photography is taken and compared against intake images. Cards are reviewed against grading standards before return.
- Secure Return — Your card is returned in archival-safe packaging, with full documentation of work performed.
Turnaround Time
Standard restoration turnaround is 10–15 business days from intake confirmation. Rush processing is available for time-sensitive submissions. Turnaround times are estimates and may vary based on damage complexity and current volume.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will repair affect my card's PSA or BGS grade?
Restoration can improve a card's visual presentation, but grading outcomes are never guaranteed. We do not make grade promises. Our goal is to present your card in the best honest condition possible — the grading company makes the final determination.
Is card repair detectable by graders?
Professional graders are trained to identify alterations. We are fully transparent: our services are designed to address natural wear and surface imperfections, not to deceive grading companies. We do not perform services that would constitute card alteration under PSA or BGS guidelines.
What cards are eligible for repair?
We work with Pokémon cards across all eras — Base Set through modern releases — as well as other trading card games. High-value cards, vintage holos, and PSA/BGS submission candidates are our specialty.
